Strategy: Trapping Aggressive Players

In Poker, there's
always gong to be aggressive players, it's just the nature of the
game. One way to combat this is simply by trapping them.
To do this though, you must have first observed your opponent for
awhile and "know" what they will do, based on how you play. For
example, in this video, I knew positively without a doubt that this
player would bet if I checked after the flop. In addition, I knew
his range of hands were so wide that I was willing to "die" with my
hand against him (or take a big hit). Basically, I wasn't folding
top pair with top kicker against this particular player. Could have
he gotten lucky and flopped 2 pair? Most definitely. Is it likely?
No. It's more likely then not that he completely missed the flop, so
armed with that information and what I knew about my opponent, I was
willing to take the chance. Again, this was a pretty easy trap, but
it's something that you should be using when you see aggressive
players. In fact, against really aggressive players, I will do this
exact move (or re-raise) with nothing.
